Service Description

Together - you, your parent/caregiver (unless you both agree otherwise), and I will dissect what's bothering you, symptom-wise. We'll look at your day-to-day habits, lifestyle factors, stress, and body function. Sometimes small tweaks to habits (e.g. how quickly you respond to bathroom urge signals, or avoiding getting up to move when you're experiencing period pain) or adjustments to physical things (e.g. time spent sitting, your posture, or relaxing tense muscles) can make all the difference. I will evaluate your mobility, strength, breath, posture, and talk through any less-than-helpful tendencies gleaned from our conversation and my assessment. Rest assured, this process is non-invasive and hands-off and typically a matter of visual observations, discussion, and instruction. Oftentimes, a small set of exercises are prescribed and "habit homework" is given (e.g. take deep breath breaks every change of class or, sip on and complete intake of at least 1 large water bottle by end of day, etc). Maybe there's a therapeutic tool (e.g. foam roller for myofascial release) or technology tool (e.g. period tracker or HRV monitor) that you may be recommended to use. If you are struggling with period products and/or want to better understand your anatomy, I've got plenty of props and models to provide the often much-needed visual demonstration of body orientation and positioning, location of landmarks, and handling techniques (e.g. tampon insertion), etc. You may have concerns about your mood swings, abdominal/pelvic pain, energy levels, and impact on relationships as you move through your menstrual cycle. I am here to help you dive deep into menstrual health - what is normal, what is not, what we can do about your concerns today, what we can anticipate, and thus plan for in future cycles, and when it's time to speak with a medical specialist. Want some further clarification on what this entails? Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions (you and/or your parent/caregiver). brookemreilly@shethrivestherapy.com 617.775.0213
